Director of GIA: Brad McClain
Mr. Brad McClain

Greetings and welcome to the website of Georgetown International Academy (GIA). It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to learn more about our school. If you are coming to this page as a prospective family, I would like to emphasize our commitment to create an environment of academic excellence and exceptional care. As a professional community of educators, we strive to provide multiple opportunities to develop student skills, character, talents, and passions through a multitude of learning experiences. If you are part of our GIA community, we hope to continue to provide you with a wealth of information that will motivate you to stay connected and informed through our communication channels, such as our social media, Quick Links, Plus Portals, other sections of the GIA website, and more.

Established in 1971, our school was founded to provide an American based education in Guyana to serve U.S. embassy families. We grew to serve other local diplomatic as well as multinational business communities. As the only U.S. accredited educational institution in the country, we look within and beyond Guyana in order to benchmark our programs, faculty, facilities, and results against the finest international schools in the region. Situated on a secure campus located in the  Prashad Nagar neighborhood of Georgetown, we offer the most robust academic and extracurricular programs of any school in the country.

GIA is a close-knit school community committed to our vision of academic excellence, global awareness, and empowering well-rounded individuals who are educated for success in life. Our highly-qualified, multinational faculty strives to realize this vision daily by challenging students intellectually while supporting their physical, social, and emotional well-being. Working in partnership with parents, GIA also encourages students to develop an appreciation for and understanding of the unique and diverse culture of Guyana as well as to celebrate the diversity of the more than 25 nationalities on campus. Tomorrow's diplomatic, business, educational, and scientific leaders are enrolled in our school today.  We hope to include your daughters and sons.

If you are not yet a member of our community, please take the time to find out more about us by exploring this website or by talking with some of our stakeholders.  Better still, please contact our Admissions Manager, Ms. Alana Da Silva (, and arrange a campus tour. We are very proud of our school and would love to have you learn more about us and what we have to offer you and your family.
